VERGOGNA!! SHAME!!

I am normally proud of my Italian heritage, but these past few days I am ashamed of the cowardice of our elected officials (officials is too nice of a word for them today) in responding to the tunnel tragedy. Where is Traviglini, DeMasi, Menino, and company?

Che vergogna!

A woman loses her life because someone didn't do their job.
Someone signed off on the job saying that it was safe to travel through the tunnel.
Menino had the audacity to make jokes about the shoddy work on the Big Dig project as recently as the annual St. Patty's Day Breakfast in March.
It seems like everyone knew that what happened the other night was bound to happen, just not this soon.

My parents and grandparents took pride in their work. Just look around and you can see things that were built 60 and 70 years ago still standing while something that was built within the last five to ten years crumbling.

It has now cost a life and the potential is there for more people to be endangered.

Pride in work has been replaced by Incompetenza. Non se ne frega is the term du jour.

$14.6 billion has been spent so far on the project. Many of a politicians pockets have been filled many times over yet not one person has come forward to offer to pay for this woman's funeral and burial.

Che vergogna! The Citizen's Bank has had to set up a fund whereby people like you and me can contribute to pay for her burial.

I think that it's time for the citizens of this state take the bull by horn. Hit these politicians in the pocket by either not paying any more tolls, whether it be on the turnpike or tunnels and bridges, or not pay any state taxes that you owe.

AMEN! I feel much safter in old structures than ones built more recently. This is inexcusable and incredibly sad.
